The DATA Act aims to help policymakers and taxpayers track federal spending by requiring agencies to make accessible consistent data on expenditures and contract information. The CFPB determined that the act applies in full to its Civil Penalty Fund and in part to its Bureau Fund.

The CFPB has developed a draft DATA Act implementation plan, in addition to other related efforts. The agency also identified several next steps in the implementation process. Success in meeting the DATA Act requirements depends, in part, on future plan execution and documenting roles and responsibilities.

This report does not contain recommendations.
