CFPB Report: 2016-MO-C-011 July 25, 2016

The CFPB's Coordination for Targeted Consumer Financial Education Aligns With Best Practices and Can Benefit From Federal Partner Insights

  • SUMMARY

available formats

Federal efforts to strengthen financial education and empower consumers focus on students, older Americans, servicemembers, and the traditionally underserved. We evaluated how the CFPB coordinates that work with other federal agencies.

The CFPB's efforts align with best practices established by the U.S. Government Accountability Office and consumer financial education practitioners for effective interagency coordination. Those efforts include ways to bridge organization cultures, identify and engage participants, monitor progress, and other best practices.

We suggested that the CFPB adopt tools to further enhance monitoring, avoid duplication, and strengthen its policy for coordination.
