The magnitude of the Martin Building renovation makes it a complex undertaking that has created challenges for the Board. Due to the cost, complexity, and time involved in the project, we assessed the Board's controls over contracted architecture and engineering services for the renovation.
The Board effectively designed controls, but its project team's communication with and documentation provided to the Board's Chief Operating Officer and the Executive Oversight Group could have better reflected the Martin Building renovation's progress. Documentation of key discussion topics, advice, decisions, or recommendations made by the Executive Oversight Group could also be improved.
Our report contains recommendations to address these findings.
