The Board's Law Enforcement Operations Bureau Can Improve Internal Processes

The Board Law Enforcement Unit's mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for staff and others on property owned or leased by the agency. We assessed whether controls in the Operations Bureau, one of four LEU bureaus, are operating effectively to support that mission and broader agency goals.

We found that the Operations Bureau can improve standards and processes associated with its control environment. Specifically, the LEU can document roles, responsibilities, and training requirements because its process for internal reviews was modified. In addition, the LEU can better communicate information about changes affecting the Operations Bureau, better capitalize on professional development opportunities, and strengthen processes for determining shift and post assignments.
